Chennai | August 23, 2026: Geri Care, India's pioneer in integrated eldercare, marked Madras Day with 'Once Upon A Madras', a heritage experience bringing together 35 senior citizens for a curated journey through some of Chennai's most iconic landmarks. Held on August 23, the five-hour journey, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, took the seniors across some of Chennai's most prominent and culturally significant landmarks, including Mount Road, Mylapore and the city's historic churches, offering them an opportunity to reconnect with the memories, stories and heritage that have shaped the city.
Participants included seniors who have been treated at Geri Care and residents of their senior assisted living facilities. Senior citizens from the general public were also able to be a part of the walk on a first come, first served basis. A dedicated medical team accompanied the group throughout the tour, along with family members, to ensure their comfort and well-being. The participants were picked up from Geri Care, Adyar and dropped back at the same location following the tour.
The heritage journey took the participants through some of the city's most familiar and historic landmarks, including Mylapore, Santhome, Victoria Public Hall, Chepauk and the Indo-Saracenic precincts, before travelling through Mount Road and its iconic landmarks such as Spencer Plaza, Higginbotham's and the LIC Building.
The initiative reflected Geri Care's broader focus on enabling seniors to remain socially connected and engaged beyond clinical care.
